Keynote - Elon Green

Elon Green has written for the New York Times Magazine, The Awl, and New York. He is anthologized in Sarah Weinman’s Unspeakable Acts. He is the author of Last Call: A True Story of Love, Lust, and Murder in Queer New York. Last Call is about the long-forgotten early 1990s murders of men picked up in Manhattan gay bars and the resulting police investigations. It’s also about the lives of the victims, and the city's queer social scene and nightlife at the height of the AIDS epidemic. Last Call won the 2022 Edgar Award for Best Fact Crime.

Come and talk with the ILS team about WorkFlows (WF) and STARCat! We will cover some basic WF suggestions/reminders and have lots of time for participant questions. Bring your favorite WorkFlows or STARCat tip to share with the group, or just come to learn a little more about the library software we all use so often. Even us 'experts' at STLS learn something new on a regular basis so let's gather together and grow our WF and STARCat knowledge! Mandy Fleming is the ILS Manager at STLS, she previously held the position of ILS Specialist at STLS, where she has worked for a total of 15 years. Kylie started at STLS as a Delivery Driver in 2016 and has been an ILS Specialist for 6 years. Larissa has been with STLS for 5 years as an ILS Specialist and Daniel has been with the system since 2018, also as an ILS Specialist. Together they handle most STLS cataloging and circulation requests, questions and training.

Join CCLD Genealogy Librarian Maggie Young to learn about the wealth of free resources freely available for people who want to learn about their family tree or local history. Learn about how your library and the Genealogy Department at Steele Memorial Library in Elmira can help your patrons. Bio: Maggie Young (they/them) is a Certified Genealogy Librarian (NIGS) and has worked at the Genealogy Library at the Steele Memorial Library in Elmira, NY since 2014. Maggie is a graduate of SUNY Fredonia (BA) and the University of Pittsburgh (MLIS). Maggie loves being a mom most of all, and also finds joy in caring for 2 cats, a mini-schnauzer/dachshund, goldfish, hermit crabs, bonsai trees, and orchids. In the past, Maggie has been employed in the fields of book repair, house-cleaning, art teaching, and organic farming.
